We’ve been working with award-winning cacao expert Daniel O’Doherty for several years. His work has produced some of the finest cacao beans we work with, such as our Ucayali from Peru and Costa Esmeraldas from Ecuador. Dan has been breeding and growing cacao for Maui Kuia Estate for six years, and we’re excited to share literally the fruits of his efforts with this bar.
This Estate Blend combines cacao from upper Amazon hybrids, trinitario, criollo and other varieties. It is a select blend of 2018-2019 harvests, which we find brings out a wonderful banana bread note, and one of the most unique bars we’ve yet made.
100% of the proceeds of this bar will be donated to INPEACE, the nonprofit Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture which works with Indigenous People of Hawaii. We raised over $2,000 in 2020!
